Code of Conduct at Humala Kalabaas

At Humala Kalabaas, we pride ourselves on providing a peaceful, sustainable, and family-friendly environment for all visitors. To help protect the privacy of our neighbors, preserve the natural beauty of the Emajõgi River and the Emajõgi Suursoo wetlands, and support ecotourism in Estonia, we ask all our visitors to follow the simple yet important rules of our fishing base in Estonia.

While these rules may seem strict, they are essential due to the unique location of Humala Kalabaas and are intended to respect the surrounding community and the environment. Nature tourism in Estonia and sustainable tourism are key pillars of our operations, ensuring that the experience at Humala Kalabaas remains enjoyable for everyone, including our neighbors and the wildlife.

Respect for Privacy and Quiet

As Humala Kalabaas is a home-based lifestyle business, we ask that all guests respect the privacy of others. Our riverfront accommodation and private fishing spot environment thrives on tranquility. The sounds of music, voices, or other noise can travel far across the water, echoing off the reed beds and through the trees, which can disturb the peace for our neighbors and other guests.

For this reason, Humala Kalabaas is perfect for those who appreciate peace, quiet, and privacy. You are welcome to enjoy your time here—fishing, relaxing, and exploring nature—while keeping noise to a minimum. Quiet music is allowed, as long as it does not disturb the neighbors. If you are planning a special celebration or gathering, you may enjoy fishing, socializing , grilling, or making a campfire, but please do so quietly.

Loud music, singing, playing instruments, or making excessive noise is not permitted at Humala Kalabaas. If you wish to have a louder gathering, we kindly ask that you find another location. We are committed to maintaining the calm, peaceful atmosphere that makes Humala Kalabaas a wonderful spot for nature retreats in Estonia.

Respect for the Riverbank and Neighbors

Humala Kalabaas is located on the scenic banks of the Emajõgi River, where everyman’s right permits movement along a 10-meter strip of riverbank. However, due to the presence of neighboring homes, we ask that all visitors respect the property lines and refrain from crossing through the riverbank to neighboring lands. The riverfront is sacred to those who live here, and we encourage visitors to enjoy the surroundings while respecting others' homes and private property.

Waste Management and Environmental Care

As part of our commitment to sustainable tourism in Estonia, all visitors are required to manage their waste responsibly. Nature tourism thrives when we all take care to leave no trace. Please remember: “What you bring in, you must take out.”

We kindly ask that you take all your waste with you, except for bottles marked for deposit. If you wish, you can leave your recyclable containers with us for return to a local recycling depot. Any wood or paper packaging, free from plastic, can be used in our designated fire pits. However, household waste must be taken with you.

Please do not throw cigarette butts, nicotine pouches, or other waste into fire pits, on the ground, into the water, or onto the ice while using our riverfront accomodation or  fishing and boat rental services near the Emajõgi River. The goal of this waste policy is to promote mindful consumption and sustainable practices. Knowing that you must take your waste with you encourages more responsible choices about the packaging of food and supplies you bring.

Responsible Use of Boats and Waterways

If you are renting a boat or participating in a self-guided tour in the Emajõgi Suursoo wetlands, we ask that you operate our boat with respect for the environment and others. Be mindful of other visitors who are also enjoying the Emajõgi River and the wetlands. Keep the noise levels low, avoid cruising through fishing lines casted from boats of from the riverbank, and be considerate of others seeking peace and privacy in this beautiful natural area.

Humala Kalabaas is committed to being a premier fishing lodge in Estonia and a peaceful retreat for nature lovers in Estonia. We aim to provide the best possible experience for those who visit to enjoy fishing tours in Southern Estonia, Emajõgi River fishing, or simply relaxing in nature. By following these rules, you help ensure that the experience remains enjoyable for all and preserves the natural beauty of this special place for future generations.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Enjoy your time at Humala Kalabaas, where you can reconnect with nature, fish with your family, and experience the best of Emajõgi River boat trips.
