Welcome to Humala Kalabaas / Humala Fishing Base
Fishing Spot & Boat Rental on the Emajõgi, Southern Estonia
Humala Kalabaas began as a simple dream—to live by a river with a small house, a patch of forest, and access to explore nature by boat. That vision became reality in Sava village, near the vast marshland of Emajõe Suursoo, creating a unique riverside fishing and nature retreat.
Over time, the site developed into a thoughtfully crafted fishing and boating destination. Custom-tuned boats and facilities offer comfortable fishing tours in Southern Estonia, boat rental on the Emajõgi River, and overnight stays in untouched wetlands. The focus is on peace, space, and closeness to nature—a quiet, private setting with no crowds and full respect for the surrounding environment.
Today, Humala Kalabaas has grown into a well-loved ecotourism destination in Estonia, offering a unique nature tourism experience. Visitors can enjoy fishing tours in Southern Estonia, boat trips on the Emajõgi River, and overnight stays immersed in the pristine nature of the Emajõe Suursoo wetlands. Thanks to years of exploring the river, guests can be guided to the best spots for catching different fish species, navigating hidden waterways, or simply meditating in secluded locations surrounded by natural sounds.
Humala Kalabaas is now a highly recommended destination for those seeking an authentic nature experience in “off the beaten path Estonia.” It offers a multi-sensory nature immersion with wildlife potential, combining fishing, boating, and quiet exploration. Options include a nature day trip from Tartu, a small group nature tour, or a private guided nature experience—ideal for visitors looking for real, unspoiled nature, wildlife proximity, and true solitude.
All private and small group tours are tailor-made according to the preferences of each group. We also offer Beaver watching experiences both on-site and by boat in the Emajõe Suursoo, including a unique tour showcasing how Beaver have reshaped a 10 hectare riverside area over the past 20 years.
